Art for Christmas

Christmas Craft

The lad and I were just chatting as we were doing angry bird pictures and playing with our magnet art, and I mentioned how we planned to get a tree with afternoon.

I was also browsing through some books trying to decide what to keep and what to recycle.  I came to an old book called "Nature at hand" (so old it doesn't have a ISBN).  It was written by Joan Wheaton Buma.  You can find more about the book here.

They had a craft in there that looked intriguing.
Instructions
Take a piece of paper, fold it in half, make a tree shape that is symmetrical.
Go outside and find a pine tree and take off a short piece to use as a paint brush.
Put your paint into a low rather flat container and use the pine branch to paint with.  It will take a bit of exploration to do.
As you can see, the lad and I had different results based on how we painted.

If you want, when done, you can decorate your trees.  We'll be using ours in finishing up our Jesse Tree Devotionals.  the tree we cut out is too small and we'll use these little trees to give more room for the story cut outs. :)

Angry Bird Art

The lad has been learning about copyright, trademarks and not wasting good dollars spent.  To that end, he's been having a great deal of fun copying pictures out of this angry bird book.  He is designing his own stories, combining pages, asking lots of questions, and being using that noggin of his.   it's been fun.  AND>>> he is colouring!  MY boy who doesn't like to colour, he'd rather create and design stories rather than just colour some page that someone has created...even if they did a good job.  He's colouring!!!   :)  And I'm having fun with him.   I wonder what tomorrow will hold in this regard?   :)
