Amish Promises was written by Leslie Gould.
It is a good read. Seriously. It was WAY better than I thought it would be. So many undercurrents running through the story line, it was just intriguing all round. Made it much better than a simple love story based out of an Amish background.
Joel dealing with PTSD. Shani missing the husband she knew. Eva dealing with a promise she made to a friend. Tim lost in his hurt over his wife's death. The children struggling with the fact that their parents are having a hard time. Charlie, a man of faith, betrayed by his fiancee.... How will ti all work out. Will the differences in their faith prove to be too big of an obstacle? Can people learn to love each other and care well with the larger body of the church?
Leslie Gould tackles an issue that is not generally looked at much. How the Amish handle people who break faith and what happens if during their "wild year" they make bad decisions that affect themselves long term. Good book.
