Together they create a family.
In this book Mrs. Perry talks frankly about the struggles they went through, how she became very focused on being in control, and how God changed her. How God changed them both, but the book is primarily focused on Sarah and the change that God wrought in her.
She uses humour, real life situations, and frank conversation. She brings her life alive to her readers.
She does not have a particular lesson to be learned in this book of 10 chapters, beyond.. Trust God, he's got the bigger picture, he has a plan. Trust him, Be willing to be changed by him.
Learning to live together, to parent children with disabilities, to rely on God. Those are the themes of this book and through it all.. the incredible need to just LOVE your children, to take them as they are and help them to be the people GOD wants them to be.
That's what I took away from this book. :)
