I thought today I'd take a moment to talk about how science is flexible.
One of the experiments we were to do as part of the program was to make a simple circuit. The lad found in interesting and decided he wanted to experiment with that idea a bit.
First he played around with the LED's. Could he make different circuits that would like it a simple LED. He made them in the light and tested them in the dark. Success! He tried a variety of combinations and found the most of them worked.
So have your children ever taken a sciencey idea and changed it or experimented with it in ways not called for in the experiment in question? How did it turn out? What questions did it generate? What thoughts did it inspire?
Let me know in the comments eh? Thanks!
