First, it's a quiet prompt when I stop and think about it. A quiet prompt that begs me to consider ... what should be first?
It's hard sometimes though, to think on that word. When you think of what should be first you need to sift through all the things begging for your attention.
A boy child wanting to tell you the latest exploits in Skyrim or Minecraft.
A hubby saying.. I don't feel so good hun, my sheets need washing.
A blog post saying "HEY.. you have me organized in your brain, write me now".
A friend wanting us to come to dinner and realizing that today you can't as hubby is sick and needs some attention paid.
Whatever you put first means something needs to be second and eventually something needs to be LAST.
There's always a last when you have a first.
So perhaps first isn't such a quiet prompt after-all is it?
It's an action word. A word that says HEY, pay attention.. what should TRULY be first?
So what helps you think?
What aids in determining what should be first?
Need? A call to action? Importance?
It's sometimes hard to determine.
I find that if I truly place my trust in God he's pretty good at ensuring that I do put first what should be first as everything else will be too difficult to pull together until I put first what I should.
Today that was schooling my boy, then tending some laundry and sitting with my lad LOOKING at him (even as I typed not looking at my screen) so he knows that I really AM listening to him and interjecting comments and asking questions of him. It's sometimes multi-tasking..and sometimes setting aside that multi-tasking to reach a child or a hubby's heart.
It's a thin line sometimes. May God grant us all the grace to find it.
One minute over... good thing I'm a fast typist eh? :)
The rules

2. write for five minutes, no editing needed.
3. link up.
4. encourage the person who went before you. :)
