1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1.5 cup multi-grain flour
1 package instant yeast
2 tablespoon white sugar
1.5 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3 cups flour (this last amount flexible)
- In a small saucepan, heat milk, water and butter until very warm (120F)
- in a large bowl, mix 1.5 cup multi-grain flour, yeast, sugar and salt. mix in the milk mixture. Add the egg. Mix well. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
- Divide dough into 12 equal pieces, flattening the top slightly. Place on a greased baking sheet (or use a silicone sheet). Cover and let rise about 30 minutes.
- Bake at 400f/200C for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
If you shape them in long rolls you can turn them into hotdog buns.
