He did need his mom's help in understanding the directions as arrows and images weren't enough for him. Once he knew what to do, he was quite capable of making the ghost on his own. The skeleton one needed to be remade a bit since one piece was put on backwards.
As you can see... the monsters actually work! Big grins from one young lad.
I can easily see people using this book at a birthday party with a monster theme, or at a hallowe'en party as a creative centre. A rainy day activity to amuse your children. :)
