My Review.
Okay, this book in set into the Middle Ages. It talks of the battle between the Immortals and the Druids. The Immortals being the good guys, and the Druids being the nasty guys. So you have the conflict between good and evil. This is book four in the series, and I haven't read the other books in the series so I jumped right into the middle of characters that had been established in three other books.
This book was okay. I can't tell you that it was great because I felt like I was slogging through it. Not written in a style that suited me. I felt like I was battling the language and pace of the book too much to really sit down and enjoy it.
Are there definitive spiritual aspects to this book? For sure, and if wanted, one could spend time discussing them. The point kept being made of "who can we trust?" Well ultimately you can trust no one but God, but seriously I just wish folks had just stopped to ask questions of each other. To challenge each others assumptions instead of allowing bad feelings to be harboured toward one another.
Could this potentially be a good book for older elementary children and teens to read? Yes as it could get them thinking and asking questions and that's a good thing. But end result, I didn't really care for it. Just wasn't my particular cup of tea and that surprised me as I've enjoyed much of what I've read before by the author.
