From my facebook page:I wrote this listening to the lad in the kitchen.
"the bananas are dying, the bananas are dying...oh the horror, the horror".
Soon to be coming... BANANA BREAD. (made by one eight year old boy with his mother supervising)
INGREDIENTS
- 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed did four large bananas due to milled flour
- 1/3 cup melted butter Did a bit more than 1/3 cup due to the milled flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt went with the lad's pinch size
- 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour 1.5 cups of home milled wheat flour
It turned out pretty good. It definitely didn't last.. the lad had about half of it in no time flat, hubby and I split the remainder. It's a bit coarser with the milled flour but it has a satisfying taste. DO NOT remove from pan overly quick or it will basically fall apart on it. After it sets a spell it will remove from pan much easier. :)
The lad made this 90% on his own. I helped put it in and out of the oven and got out the baking soda for him, oh.. and I broke the egg for him since that's a skill still being developed. Dad milled the wheat for him. See slide show below.
