Not always the easist thing to do is it?
It's one thing as a mom that I've had to learn to do. But it is something that I need to learn to do better as well.
NO.. you can't aim that weapon you just made at the cat. See..this one is easy! So super easy to just spill that out.
What is not so easy?
Saying no when the lad keeps whapping me with the foam flail he just made cause he's still super excited about it. :)
S why is it so much easier to say NO when he's aiming the same weapon at the cat, but not at me? WHY?
I dunno.
But I do need to say no to him at some point. It's just hard to figure it out sometimes you know. It's not like the weapon is hurting me (though it might hurt or scare the cat). It's just annoying me.
And perhaps that's what I need to focus on.
As members of the body of Christ we aren't to cause damage to each other. (and damage isn't always easily seen, but sometimes is felt) We do need to show forebearance with each other... as in tolerating the differences that aren't leading oneself or others from God, ....but we don't need to stretch the patience limits of others either. The whole ... lead not others into sin aspect of dealing with others.
Just hard sometimes to figure it out.
I can say no to folks when I feel they are pushing me into something, or I know it conflicts with family scheduling, or if hubby says no way hun, that's not happening, or if I know what is being asked of me is just plain wrong. But when it comes to the sticky little stuff...the people pleasing stuff...it's much harder to figure out the no's. And perhaps that's where trust comes into play. Can I trust that if I say no to this friend that they won't get mad at me. Can I trust that if I say no that ... there won't be this negative fall out that I need to deal with? Can I trust that I can deal with that negative fall out in a Christ honouring way?
I have to admit, I can't always trust that....
Seems I have a bit more work to do eh? :)
