Making Changes to... A day in our life.

I have been wanting to make some changes to how we approach our homeschooling days for a while now.  I've tried a few different things, and am now going to do a combination process.  The reason for this is two-fold.  
1. to appease a child who wants to know what must be done before he can do his own thing.
2. to provide some encouragement and accountability to me.

The use of a small white board to write on big things I want done (science, history etc)

Using the white board works really well for my boy.  He likes wiping off what he has done.   BUT the white board isn't big enough to hold all that I like to get done.  AND I want to help foster some independent work with my boy as well so... I"m making up a check list that he can well.. CHECK off.  :)

This way I know we have things we can and will get done in the course of a week and we can monitor how our month is going.  That way if we need to pick up the pass on something (that we are falling behind in, we'll be able to see it).  It contains things he's to do daily as part of living life, as well as things he's to do as a regular part of homeschooling.

Since reading Motivate Your Child, it was impressed upon me that a child needs to learn to find ways to be helpful.  So I added that to a daily thing for my lad to do.   But sometimes he would come and say "mom, tell me what to do.  I don't know what to do".  So I asked him if it would be helpful to have a list to refer to for when he can't think of something.  To that end we have this sheet.  This way he still needs to think of what has to be done, but on those days when your brain isn't working well, he can still come up with a way to be helpful around the house.
